The MiEV runs on a lithium-ion battery pack that can be charged in seven or so hours on a 240-volt line. There are at least a half dozen different technologies to power cars with electricity under construction. Today we could be using lead-acid EVs, lead-carbon-acid EVs, or nickel metal hydride or lithium-ion hybrids.
