The NXR Intercity uses a 14 kWh Li-ion phosphate battery pack and a 25 kW, 92 N·m AC induction motor, offering a range of 160 km (99 miles), and a top speed of 104 km/h (65 mph).

The hybrid models available today use lead-acid ornickel-metal hydride batteries that are are proven, reliable, and fairlycheap, but their limited storage capacity means that the cars’ driving rangeusing electricity alone is short. Witha 60-mile range, most felt the need to recharge after 30 miles or so.
