The 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show opens to the public today with a glittering display of green cars taking pride of place. The show, based at the Los Angeles Convention Center will host more than 30 significant world and North American debuts and feature more than 900 vehicles from sports cars and sedans to crossovers and minivans.

Volvo believes the principal of hybrid cars being exempt from the charge is outdated. DRIVe with start/stop technology (pictured below) emits a mere 104g/km of CO2 and was recently named as the What Car? Green Car of the Year. Currently, only alternative fuel vehicles are exempt from the London Congestion Charge.
