The MiEV runs on a lithium-ion battery pack that can be charged in seven or so hours on a 240-volt line. There are at least a half dozen different technologies to power cars with electricity under construction. They are either glorified golf cart city cars like this one or they are only for the very wealthy like the Tesla.
