Our Texas-based group is focusing on three of these issues: autonomy, communications, and standards. On the standards front, we are part of an IEEE working group, P1920.2 , developing standards for vehicle-to-vehicle communications. The working group plans to release the draft standard by the end of 2023.

American introduced Smart Gating at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in 2021 and now employs it at six airports, including Chicago O’Hare and Miami International.
