As noted in a TechCrunch report, Tesla was looking to secure almost $100 million from the administration’s Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) Discretionary Grant program. With a public Megacharger network in place, the Tesla Semi could transport goods over distances that far exceed its 500-mile range.

US DOE Awards $300 Million in Clean Cities Grants to Support Alternative Fuels, Vehicles, and Infrastructure Development

Like the Recovery Act-funded projects, the annual Clean Cities projects include grants for vehicles, infrastructure, and education. Selected projects, by size of award, are: State of Wisconsin’s Wisconsin Clean Transportation Program. Clean Fuels Ohio’s Ohio Advanced Transportation Partnership (OATP).
