The XR Extended Range product, using NMC Li-ion cells, allows longer distances between charge events. Moreover, the contract seeks to match and qualify contract users with federal grant and/or stimulus funds. Fast charge configured buses can also be charged in-depot to take advantage of off-peak charging times.

A123 Systems has been the recipient of a number of state and federal grants and tax incentives.
