In June, Volvo unveiled its smallest and cheapest SUV, the EX30 ( see our revie w ). The Swedish automaker calls the electric SUV a “cornerstone” of its EV plans. With “above-expected order rates,” Volvo will build the EX30 at its Ghent, Belgium plant (in addition to China) to meet the growing demand in Europe for low-cost EVS.

Volvo’s new EVs see Ferrari-like wait times After unveiling the EX90 almost two years ago, Volvo’s flagship electric SUV is still in hot demand. When asked how the brand prevented customers from switching to other brands, Zurhausen told Automotive News Europe that Volvo has “the right products at the right time.”

The EX30 is already rolling out in Europe, Japan, and Brazil. He boasted about the automaker’s pricing power, with the EX30 starting at $34,950 in the US and €36,590 in Europe. Europe was Volvo’s biggest market, with 8,799 EVs sold, up 31% YOY. The extended-range model will feature up to 275 miles driving range.
