Motor vehicle taxation brings in €440.4B for governments in major European markets

New data shows that motor vehicles generate more than €440 billion in taxation per year for national governments in the major EU markets plus the UK, the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) reports. Skeleton Technologies , an energy-storage start-up located in Tartu, Estonia, was recently awarded a US patent ( #7,803,345 ) on its nanoporous carbon powder supercapacitor material. The US patent and soon-to-be-granted EU patent gives the company protection for carbide-derived-carbons suitable for energy storage applications.

Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) will provide 507 units of the i-MiEV electric vehicle manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors (MMC)—the largest single provision since sales of the EV started—to the Estonian Government. The 507 units will be shipped to Estonia by end of fiscal 2011.
