Start of production for the new smart fortwo electric drive. Daimler AG has begun production of the new smart fortwo electric drive at the smart Hambach plant. Like the models with combustion engines, the electric vehicle is now rolling off the production line in the standardized production process.

Having already made significant in-roads into the electric vehicle market, Smart is now planning to introduce its second generation electric drive Smart Fortwo with production to begin in early November. The vehicle is based on the Smart Fortwo Coupe/Cabrio Passion.
