Dominica Wong, lead author. PFPE is nothing new; it’s a polymer that has long been used as a heavy-duty lubricant to keep gears in industrial machinery running smoothly. When we discovered that we could dissolve lithium salt in this polymer, that’s when we decided to roll with it. Dominica H. —Dominca Wong.

Startup Blue Current seeking to commercialize non-flammable fluorinated electrolytes for Li-ion batteries

Green Car Congress

Balsara himself co-founded his first battery company, Seeo, in 2007 based on another one of his inventions, a dry polymer electrolyte, which is non-flammable. Blue Current’s engineers are working on modifying the molecular structure of the electrolyte in order to speed up lithium ion motion. Dominica H. —Nitash Balsara.
