Honda beat everybody to the production gasoline-electric hybrid game in the United States, putting the Insight in showrooms in 1999. That car was the 2007 Saturn Vue Green Line, and I managed to find one in a Denver-area car graveyard recently. gallon gas in order to recoup its cost over the pure-gazzoline version.

I've been writing about junkyardified cars here at TTAC since November of 2010, when I documented a pair of Fiat 128s in a Denver boneyard. This is one of those cars, having averaged 8,186 miles for every one of its 40 years. Since then, we've seen plenty of discarded Volvos here, but no Volvo 200 Series four-door sedans!

We're here to praise this SC2 for staying on the road for close to three decades and well over 250,000 miles. But we're not here to mourn Saturn. This car has neither.

Last week, a first-model-year Lark sedan showed up at a self-service yard just south of Denver , and I was there to document it in its final parking spot. Yes, this car weighs about the same as a 2023 Honda Civic. Amarillo is surprisingly close to Denver (by the standards of the American West), just 430 miles to the southeast.
