Rimac Energy’s ESS is built upon a novel electrical architecture, which the company says enables significant performance, safety, and availability advantages, including up to 50% reduced energy losses and 40% smaller system footprint. These pilot systems are expected to be produced by the end of this year, and commissioned in 2024.

Oliver Blume, CEO of Porsche, and Mate Rimac, CEO of Rimac, signed the corresponding agreements and announced the name of the new hypercar manufacturer: Bugatti-Rimac. The joint venture will have its headquarters in Zagreb (Croatia) and is scheduled to be established in the fourth quarter of 2021. Bugatti Chiron, Rimac Nivera.

The project, called “European Battery Innovation” (EuBatIn) was jointly prepared and notified by Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden. The twelve Member States will provide up to €2.9 billion (US$3.5 billion) in funding in the coming years.
