Open Source Civic EV Kit

After spending the past year and a half converting a Porsche 914 to an electric vehicle, I decided to expand my horizons by designing an open-source electric vehicle (EV) conversion kit for a commonly used car. There are already commercially available kits with excellent, detailed instructions for how to convert a vehicle.

Many of the first Prius hybrids that were released are still running strong on their NiMH batteries after 100,000+ miles. In most conversions cost is about the same because of needless weight. However, your claims about batteries needing replacement every five years are dubious at best. Lead batts are around 98% recycled.
