All this is made possible by a powerful 30kW electric motor which is built for us by Zytek Automotive. The ed also borrows the tried and NCAP tested Tridion safety cell from the petrol driven smart. The smart ed has no gear change and can reach 30 mph in 6.5 It has an electronically limited top speed of 60 mph.

Our friend Doug, of Tesla Motors Club fame, was at the event and went for a ride in the diminutive one, armed with a video camera to record the ride, the results of which we are happy to share with you after the break. Zytek (a UK based company) make the motor and drivetrain for it. from the Tesla Roadster. and 49 mpg.
