Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (GSM) officially began operating the first pure electric taxi service in Vietnam: Green SM Taxi. In May 2023, Green SM Taxi can be booked through BeVinFast service on the Be application.

It appears that over half of Vietnamese electric vehicle startup VinFast’s sales during the first half of 2023 were to a taxi firm that’s owned by VinGroup, the automaker’s parent company. The surges in VinFast stock have been so notable that the company briefly became the world’s third-most highly valued automaker.

Mobileye, an Intel Company, and WILLER, one of the largest transportation operators in Japan, Taiwan and the Southeast Asian region, have formed a strategic collaboration to launch an autonomous robotaxi service in Japan and markets across Southeast Asia, including Taiwan. WILLER also partners with 150 local transportation providers in Japan.

The company will make batteries for EVs at the plant in the city of Thoothukudi, one of the people said, adding that this was separate from its previously announced plans to assemble vehicles shipped in parts from Vietnam.
