Arguably the biggest flaw in the Plug-In Electric Drive Vehicle Credit ( IRC 30D ) regulations is the triggering of a phaseout schedule of the tax credit when a manufacturer sells 200,000 total EVs (BEV and PHEV). On the flip side, however, the recent Bolt battery fires and recall could scare many potential buyers away.

Glad to see the variety & availability of electic commuter cars (vs hybrids & PHEV) is rising. Since most families have at least two cars now, I foresee an electric commuter car and an ICE road trip car (you know, an Escalade or Dodge Ram crew cab ;o) in the future.
