Six trucking firms operating in the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are deploying trucks powered by Cummins Westport (CWI) near-zero ISX12N engines ( earlier post ), and fueled with Clean Energy Fuels Corp.’s The Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach provided funding for two additional near-zero trucks.

The Port of Long Beach has cut diesel particulates by 81% since 2005, according to its 2012 Emissions Inventory. The results for 2012 mark six straight years of improving air quality in the harbor area due to the Port’s focused efforts to reduce air pollution caused by goods movement.

City of Los Angeles Harbor Department (LAHD), Port of Los Angeles received $279,750 to replace four older Tier 2 diesel engines on two tugboats operating in San Pedro Bay, with cleaner Tier 4 engines.
