In recent weeks, news stories have broken about a Ferrari hybrid supercar in development as well as the launch of the McLaren P11 Supercar, which features a diesel V8 engine and regenerative braking. So, in effect, this is a supercar capable of around 200mph and yet it has very clean emissions.

Trek highlights green credentials of plug-ins

He dubbed the car the Electric Green Machine, as it was fitted with custom A123 Hymotion lithium-ion batteries that were installed at the Advanced Vehicle Research Centre in Raleigh, North Carolina.
