The concept is based on axial-flux motor tech developed by Mercedes-owned Yasa. Yasa claims its tech provides four times more torque and double the power of nearly all current EV tech while being 50% lighter. Mercedes has yet to reveal prices or specs for the EV supercar, but it will not be cheap.

Adding manganese to the popular LFP formula increases the voltage and energy density of the battery cells, without a noticeable cost increase, since manganese is particularly cheap. Anyway, some battery cell makers such as BYD, Gotion High-Tech, Sunwoda and Eve Energy are also testing LMFP batteries and providing sample units to automakers.

Do keep in mind Sena products are not cheap. The helmet works for up to 8 hours on a single charge, and comes with its own smartphone app, which gathers and collects data on your rides, with info on your distance, time, average speed, max speed, cadence, elevation and more. Sena is not exactly cheap. Interested? Interested?

We imagine more info will come on that soon. But with these increased tariffs, that makes it less likely that US consumers will gain access to these cheap, high-tech Chinese EVs. Those EVs haven’t made their way to the US yet, but most thought that it was inevitable they would soon.
