GM has offered Saab for sale, and is requesting Swedish government support prior to any sale. Saturn will remain in operation for the next several years, through the end of the planned lifecycle for all Saturn products. GM will have a total of 36 nameplates in 2012, down 25% from 2008 levels.

Plug-in 2008 in San Jose, California witnessed a noon-time address by new heavy-weight convert, Andy Grove, former CEO of Intel. Representatives of GM stoked the clamor for the Volt, and a Saturn Vue plug-in hybrid sat on the show floor. Once again, a conference on plug-in cars.

California Air Resources Board studies show that battery electric vehicles emit at least 67% lower greenhouse gases than gasoline cars -- even more assuming renewables. The program is in cooperation with Californias Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), South Coast Air Quality Management District, and Southern California Edison.

Plans Saturn Vue PHEV-10. Committed to sales of 10,000 or more vehicles in late 2010, with increasing production in 2011. Batteries not ready.
