Ports of Auckland buys world’s first electric tug; 70-tonne bollard pull

Ports of Auckland (New Zealand) has signed a contract with Dutch company Damen Shipyards to buy the world’s first full-size, fully electric port tug. It was important to us that a new electric tug should be able to carry out normal port operations, just like our existing diesel tugs. —Tony Gibson, CEO of Ports of Auckland.
