Mercedes-AMG laid out its new electrified drive strategy , which is based on two pillars: Performance hybrids with a completely independent drive concept under the technology label E PERFORMANCE. Battery-electric AMG derivatives based on the new Mercedes Electric Vehicle Architecture (EVA) for luxury and premium-class vehicles.

The electric powertrain and the high-performance battery with 400 volts are AMG-exclusive, in-house developments. Just like in Formula 1, the battery is specifically designed for fast power output and draw with innovative direct cooling of the cells. kWh battery is 13 kilometers (8 miles). a P3 hybrid.

Italian motorsport electronics specialist Magneti Marelli and UK high-speed flywheel specialist Flybrid Systems are collaborating to develop a new energy storage solution for Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems (KERS). The Flywheel capacitor will not use chemical battery-based energy storage systems.

Audi unveiled its redesigned R18 diesel hybrid Le Mans racer for the 2016 World Endurance Championship (WEC) season. Among the new features in the R18 are a more radical aerodynamics concept, including a new safety cell; a Li-ion battery replacing the flywheel energy storage system; and a revised V6 TDI diesel engine.

The concept includes a distinctive drive layout with an electric motor and battery on the rear axle as well as a high-performance battery developed in-house. As in Formula 1, the battery is specifically designed for fast power delivery and draw. The lightweight high-performance battery is also located above the rear axle.
