Batteries today have a number of problems, chiefly, the heavy metal-oxides used inside the battery greatly limit the amount of energy it can store, IBM notes. By having water flow so close to each chip, heat can be removed more efficiently. In some cases, batteries may disappear altogether in smaller devices.
