Power comes from a 93kWh gross (83.7kWh usable) battery which feeds two motors – a 175kW motor powers the front axle and is shared with the regular e-Tron GT, but the rear is larger and more powerful, at 335kW. A 50kW DC charger boosts the battery from five to 80 per cent in around 1.5 Ford Mustang Mach E.

Many of the current generation of electric cars have a driving range of less than 50mph and many are not even classified as cars, but simply quadricycles. The Government is to set strict criteria on the driving range and safety standards of the electric cars which buyers will be able to use the subsidy against.
