Redeem was the first commercially available RNG vehicle fuel, derived from capturing biogenic methane that is produced from the decomposition of organic waste from dairies, landfills, and wastewater treatment plants. The company has added three new CNG trucks to its 8-truck fleet, which will fuel at Clean Energy’s station in Commerce, CA.

The project will build and install diesel-fueled two-stroke compression-ignition Achates Power Opposed-Piston Engines into Class 8 demonstration trucks that will be road-road ready in 2019 and operate in fleet service in California in 2020. California’s ultra-low NO x emissions standard is 0.02 grams per brake horsepower-hour (g/bhp/hr).

FedEx has deployed 20 gasoline hybrid electric vehicles (gHEVs) on parcel delivery routes in the Sacramento and Los Angeles areas. gHEV deceleration events allow for the recapture of energy via regenerative braking, while this energy is unrecoverable and wasted by the diesel vehicle. Evidence for Electrics Piles Up at ZEVTech Plug In America and the Electric Auto Association were well represented and well received at the California Air Resources Board Zero Emission Vehicle Technical Review in Sacramento. Dave Hermance said producing more than 30 FCVs per generation is a waste of money and resources.
