Merc wants the electric smart to perform badly, to have a short range and little power, so that it dosent eat up other products in the lineup. For this to happen there has to be a detuning process.

For now, the Circuit has all sorts of EV appeal, but itll be up to groups that Chrysler cant control - the Presidential auto task force, the higher-end customer market, etc. - This one fact is arguably more important than how the car acts on the road. to decide if we ever get to see these promises fulfilled.
