Electric cars remain dependent on the development of better,affordable batteries. Witha 60-mile range, most felt the need to recharge after 30 miles or so. Peter Roach, Birmingham, UK Nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries powered the late GM EV1 and still power hundreds of Toyota RAV4 EVs, some over 100,000 miles.
