The project—Building Genome-to-Phenome Infrastructure for Regulating Methane in Deep and Extreme Environments ( BuG ReMeDEE )—was awarded a $6-million grant by the National Science Foundation in October 2017. SURF is located in Lead, South Dakota at the former site of the Homestake Gold Mine.
