N ow that the number one automaker and the number two automaker has made the commitment to building Plug In hybrid / electric vehicles by 2010, another automotive giant is joining the race. The company plans to lease a limited number of plug-in hybrids by 2010 and put its gasoline-electric hybrid system into more models. Toyota ( TM ).

GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. Ford Escape PHEV-40 around 2012. First Escape PHEV delivered to SCE Nov 2007; 20 in 2008-2009. todays answer is "Yes -- but not yet."
