Engine technologies such as SIDI (spark ignition direct injection) and turbocharging, as well as new transmissions such as the S6, will be applied in Buick, Cadillac and Chevrolet products offered by Shanghai GM. The Buick New Regal 2.0L, Buick New Regal 1.6T, Chevrolet New Sail 1.2L all have class-leading fuel economy.

The morning session started out with an hour long press conference, the highlight being the unveiling of the Volt’s 230 mpg preliminary EPA city fuel economy finding ( earlier post ), as well as a tour showing selected elements from the studios of the four GM North American brands: Chevrolet, GMC, Buick and Cadillac.

GM’s exterior spoiler with integrated CHMSL assembly on the 2009 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon is a highly dimensionally stable, thermoplastic Class A horizontal body panel. Fiat’s electric power-steering flexible coupling in the 2010 Fiat 500 replaced a similar stainless-steel coupling with broached splines and grease.
