2008 Malibu hybrid. The Malibu hybrid shares components with two other GM mild hybrids: the Saturn Aura and Vue hybrids. GM’s next-generation mild hybrid system, which was announced in 2008 ( earlier post ), is scheduled to debut in MY 2011, powered by a lithium-ion battery from Hitachi Vehicle Energy Ltd (HVE).

In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. First Escape PHEV delivered to SCE Nov 2007; 20 in 2008-2009. Plans Saturn Vue PHEV-10. Aims to get Saturn Vue on road in 2010; no production goal. Batteries not ready. Has shown some concept fuel-cell PHEVs. Plans "large demonstration fleet" late 2009.
