NHTSA issued the advisory in conjunction with the agency’s closing of an investigation into brake-line failures in General Motors trucks and SUVs built in model years 1999 to 2003. The coated steel brake pipes in GM’s vehicles under investigation were similar to materials used by other manufacturers at the time.

Hybrids significantly outperformed the total light-duty vehicle market, which dropped 27.7% from 1,330 units in June 2008.

Under the agreement, CleanFUEL will distribute IMPCO’s bi-fuel Sequent system, a dual-propane and gasoline fuel system certified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), for conversions of light duty General Motors and Ford vehicles to run on propane. 2008 and 2009 3.5L Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban and Tahoe.

Reported sales of light-duty hybrids in the US dropped 29% by volume in February year-on-year to 16,020 units. The decline in hybrids was less than the 41% decline in the overall light-duty vehicle market for the month. In February 2008, hybrids held 1.9% General Motors. New hybrid sales represented 2.3% of all GS models.

This meant that a total of 26,205 hybrid units were sold - some three per cent of all new vehicles, the highest monthly new vehicle share since April 2008. Indeed sales of hybrids have significantly out-performed the total light duty vehicle market, which dropped by 27.7 per cent in volume to 859,847 units. per cent year on year.
