Honda beat everybody to the production gasoline-electric hybrid game in the United States, putting the Insight in showrooms in 1999. Toyota followed with the Prius a year later, but it took GM until 2006 to introduce its first true gasoline-electric hybrid here. The Vue's platform outlived Saturn and still lives today, though.

The Consent Order also requires GM to notify NHTSA of changes to its schedule for completing production of repair parts by 4 October. The GM recall covers the 2005-2010 Chevrolet Cobalt, 2007-2010 Pontiac G5, 2003-2007 Saturn Ion, 2006-2011 Chevrolet HHR, 2006-2010 Pontiac Solstice and 2007-2010 Saturn Sky vehicles.

In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. Weve kept the summary table below generally up-to-date for passenger PHEVs, but not for BEVs, motorcycles or larger vehicles like buses and trucks. Several dozen prototypes on 15-passenger van since 2004; now in second generation development; no production plans.
