Global temperature anomalies in April 2010 with respect to a 1971-2000 base period. Cooler-than-normal places included Mongolia, Argentina, far eastern Russia, the western contiguous United States and most of China. below the 1979-2000 average extent and the 15 th smallest April extent since records began in 1979.
