While the new Ford Mustang Mach-E shares a name with the legendary Mustang Coupe, the crossover shares few characteristics with the iconic sports car. Instead, the Ford Mach-E embodies a healthy mix of family-friendly design and powerful performance, bolstered by a variety of safety features that will make this vehicle an attractive prospect for those looking for a versatile family car.

That being said, Ford is offering Mustang Mach-E trims focused on different specialties. The entry-level Select, feature-heavy Premium, extended range California Route 1, the performance-based GT, and the off-road equipped Rally each have their own priorities and strengths, giving drivers a ton of options to get the Mach-E that fits their lifestyle.

In this EV Life electric vehicle spotlight, we’ll explore the trim levels, features, options, and performance of the Ford Mustang Mach-E and find out why it’s one of the hottest EVs of 2023-2024. We’ll also show you how to save money by financing your purchase through EV Life.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Specs, Design, and Performance

The Ford Mustang Mach-E has numerous options available, allowing you to select the Mach-E that will meet your driving needs. The old Mustang was an iconic American sports car, but the new Mustang Mach-E looks to broaden its appeal to a variety of customers.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Interior and Exterior

The interior of the Ford Mustang Mach-E is designed for ultimate comfort, convenience, and versatility, with a range of amenities available. The dashboard holds an attractive digital gauge cluster and a large infotainment touchscreen. Ford’s infotainment system allows you to customize settings based on driver profiles, so everything is just how you want it when you get behind the wheel, even if you share your car with multiple drivers. It also features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot, and depending on trim, a Bang & Olufsen audio system.

Behind the rear seats, the Mach-E provides 29 cubic feet of cargo room, which expands to 60 cubic feet when the back seats are folded down. Other standard and optional features include customizable ambient interior lighting, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, wireless device charger, and a spacious front trunk.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Performance

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is available with either a standard-range 70.0-kWh or an extended-range 91.0-kWh batter pack. The RWD versions of the Select and Premium utilize a single motor, while the AWD variants of all four trims feature dual motors, one on each axle.

The GT trim, which is only available in AWD, offers a significant 480 horsepower and up to 634 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to fly from 0-60 in a remarkable 3.7 seconds. Lower-level models with rear-wheel drive offer between 266 and 290 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. The AWD trims below the California Route 1 and GT have anywhere from 266 to 346 horsepower and either 427 or 428 pound-feet of torque.

All this adds up to serious performance for what is essentially a family-friendly crossover, making the Ford Mustang Mach-E both practical and a pleasure to drive. And given that the Mach-E competes with popular crossovers like the Tesla Model Y, Volkswagen ID.4, and Hyundai Ioniq 5, its performance-focused trims may separate it from the pack.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Battery Options

EPA-estimated ranges for the Mach-E lineup span from 250 to 312 miles on a single charge, depending on the size of the battery pack and the number of electric motors. While those ranges are hardly impressive when compared with long-range Tesla models and other extended-range EVs, it’s still competitive.

In addition, every Mach-E model comes with fast-charging capability and includes a mobile home charging unit that can provide up to 30 miles of range per night. When plugged into a 240-volt outlet, drivers can expect to gain as much as an 80% charge overnight.

How to Save Money on Your Ford Mustang Mach-E

As the car industry moves further into its inevitable electric future, federal and state governments have created a variety of programs designed to help drivers make the switch from ICE vehicles to EVs. That’s great news for anyone looking to purchase a new Ford Mustang Mach-E.

In addition to federal tax credits and state incentives, there are numerous programs that offer you money to retire your older, gas-powered vehicles, grants and rebates to cover the cost of home EV charger stations and installation, as well as a number of local EV incentives that include free charging locations, carpool and express lane benefits, toll discounts, and more. Here’s a look at some of the most significant incentive programs out there.

Electric Vehicle Incentive Programs

  • Federal Tax Credit. The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 outlined a federal EV tax credit of up to $7,500 for qualified drivers looking to purchase an EV. Electric cars with an MSRP of $55,000 SUVs and electric trucks with an MSRP of up to $80,000 may qualify. Unfortunately, due to stricter battery component sourcing restrictions, the Ford Mustang Mach-E only qualifies for zero federal tax credit ($0).
  • Clean Vehicle Assistance Program. The Clean Vehicle Assistance Program (CVAP), another California-based incentive, offers grants and loan assistance to lower-income customers to help purchase or lease a low-emission or zero-emission vehicle, including EVs and plug-in hybrids.
  • Clean Cars 4 All. The Clean Cars 4 All program helps lower-income Californians by offering cash incentives of up to $9,500 to retire their older ICE vehicles and invest in EVs.
  • Colorado Electric Vehicle Tax Credit. The newly passed Colorado EV tax credit offers Colorado residents a state tax credit of up to $5,000 toward the purchase of an electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle with a price tag of up to $80,000.

*Average savings may vary depending on the eligibility requirements of each program. Be sure to check the website for complete details.
