Financing Tesla Cybertruck

The wait is over. Four years after CEO Elon Musk introduced the Tesla Cybertruck prototype, the first vehicles are finally being delivered to customers. The journey from concept to reality was a rocky one, fraught with production delays, price changes, and brake issues outlined in leaked engineering reports. But despite the setbacks and missteps, the first deliveries of the Cybertruck have finally arrived.

At first glance, the highly anticipated Tesla truck lives up to its hype. It has a truly distinctive futuristic design coupled with some pretty impressive capabilities under the hood and all the available features you would expect from the world’s leading electric vehicle producer. In this article, we’re going to check out some of the specs, design, and performance of the Tesla Cybertruck and show you how you can save money on one by financing through EV Life.

Tesla Cybertruck Specifications, Design, and Safety Features

Cybertruck Interior and Exterior

Exterior

The exterior design of the Cybertruck is certainly its most recognizable feature. The futuristic, angular design separates the Tesla pickup from every other truck on the market, and opinions were immediately polarized when Musk unveiled the truck to the public in 2019.

Perhaps the most unique aspect of the Cybertruck’s exterior is its much-publicized Ultra-Hard 30X Cold-Rolled stainless steel skin, supposedly built to withstand everything from baseballs to bullets. The rest of the design is equally stark, as the Cybertruck avoids flowing lines and smooth curves in favor of sharp, strong angles and hard edges. Even its headlights, wheel fenders, and windows feature a chunky, geometric design.

Love it or hate it, the look of the Cybertruck is certainly unique, closer to a video game than it is to anything else currently on the road.

Interior

The interior of the four-door, six-seater Cybertruck is stripped down and minimal, even by Tesla standards. The cabin shares the same angular design language as the exterior, featuring a dash that resembles a ledged countertop adorned by a 17-inch infotainment screen that controls many of the interior features.

The Cybertruck seats six comfortably and provides 100 cubic feet of exterior storage space, as well as lockable trunk and vault storage.

Cybertruck Performance

While the design of the Cybertruck may generate much of its publicity, its performance is sure to be its most enduring characteristic. The Cybertruck will be available in three different trims, including an entry-level single-motor version (which won’t hit the market until 2025) and two all-wheel-drive trims in two-motor and three-motor configurations. The upper-tier models will produce 600 hp and 845 hp, respectively, giving the Cybertruck a serious kick in acceleration and top speed, even in off-road conditions.

The dual-motor and tri-motor versions of the truck will also feature a 2500 lb payload capacity and 11,000 lbs of towing capacity, which is comparable to its competitors, the Rivian R1T and the Ford F-150 Lightning. The Cybertruck will also come with an adjustable air suspension that can raise and lower the pickup truck four inches in either direction, giving it exceptional versatility when it comes to ground clearance. Rear-wheel steering provides an impressive turning radius for the 19-foot-long truck, and, of course, the Cybertruck will offer Tesla’s famous self-driving mode.

Where the Cybertruck separates itself from other trucks on the road is its speed. The tri-motor all-wheel drive model boasts 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, giving you sports car speed in an off-road-ready package.

How to Save Money on Your Cybertruck

In addition to the much-publicized $7,500 federal EV tax credit, there are also a variety of other programs that can help you save money on your new EV. There are state programs that offer you money to retire your older, gas-powered vehicles, rebates to cover the cost of home EV charger stations and installation, and plenty of local EV incentives that include free charging locations, toll discounts, carpool and express lane stickers, and more. Let’s take a look at some of the EV incentives that may be available to you.

Available EV Incentives

  • Federal Tax Credit. The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 outlined a federal EV tax credit of up to $7,500 for qualified drivers looking to purchase an EV. Electric trucks with an MSRP of up to $80,000 may qualify.
  • Clean Vehicle Assistance Program. The Clean Vehicle Assistance Program (CVAP) is a California-based incentive that offers grants to lower-income drivers to help buy or lease low-emission or zero-emission vehicles, including EVs and plug-in hybrids.
  • Clean Cars 4 All. The Clean Cars 4 All program helps lower-income Californians by offering cash incentives of up to $9,500 to retire their older gas-powered vehicles and invest in EVs.
  • Colorado Electric Vehicle Tax Credit. The newly passed Colorado EV tax credit offers Colorado residents a state tax credit of up to $5,000 toward the purchase of an electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle with a price tag of up to $80,000.
  • Massachusetts Offers Rebates for Electric Vehicles. The MOR-EV program makes electric vehicles (EVs) more affordable for Massachusetts residents, businesses, and non-profit organizations by offering $3,500-5,000 for EVs priced under $55,000.
  • EV Home Charging Installation Incentives. Many California utility providers and air quality management districts (AQMDs) offer rebates to help reduce the cost of installing a Level 2 EV charger in your home, usually in the form of a fixed dollar amount or percentage rebate.
  • And plenty more!

Getting the Most From Your EV Incentives

While there are many incentives, rebates, and grants out there, knowing which you qualify for and how to apply is no easy task. Each program has its own complex set of vehicle, driver, and income eligibility requirements, many of which are undergoing frequent changes.

You won’t get much help from the dealership or traditional auto lender, either. Instead, you’ll be left to sort through the fine print on government websites on your own, potentially leaving a lot of money on the table.

However, if you want to make sure you get the most out of every EV incentive available to you, look no further than the EV Climate Loan from EV Life.
