Today's UCOTD is clearly a project car. I just want to make that clear from jump. Remember, we run the gamut here -- we're not just looking for trailer queens or clean used cars that present a value.

So, today, we bring you a 1987 Honda CRX Si.

This one doesn't run and it needs a lot of work. That work includes repairing a damaged front passenger fender and also there's a lot of rust on the moonroof cover. The interior will need a deep clean.

If you're within towing distance of northern New Jersey, you can pick this one up for $3,800. There are over 115K miles on it.

Yes, yes, I know -- some of you will go a bit nuts in the comments down below. But CRXs are beloved and someone will to put the work in to restoring this car might be happy to snag it.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

  • Tassos COOKING oil should be used until it IS blacK THEN POURED DOWN THE STORMDRAIN. None of this recycling WOKE nonsense! Now they want us to save it and drive it across town TO A MITSUBISHI STORE. RIDICULOUS! Everything was fine without all THIS allegedly PROGRESSIVE hassle.
  • Random1 I'd love the iD.7 Estate and/or the iD.Buzz with the short wheelbase. The LWB just looks much worse IMO, though I see why they'd prioritize that for the US. And wagons are, well, wagons, so anathema to the US. It's a shame, it'd be my first choice for my next car.

  • Dartdude The screens are overkill, but I would never go back to analog gauges. Love the way digitally you get tons more information. Had one of the first TPMS and it only told me one of the tires were low, Now they show all four tires pair pressure.
