As the leader of Drive Electric Dayton, I often collaborate with Gary Heaton, leader of Drive Electric Cincinnati, in organizing electric vehicle (EV) ride and drive events in southwest Ohio. He is both talented and resourceful in reaching out to the public to promote our joint cause.

During the pandemic, Gary created Why Your Next Vehicle Should Be Electric, a very compelling slide deck born out of necessity to substitute for in-person outreach. Drive Electric Cincinnati utilized this deck for virtual sessions with local civic groups, as well as with employees of companies installing EV charging capabilities. The goal has been for the EV-curious to leave these virtual meetings understanding whether or not driving electric can work for them.

Easily customized

When I was contacted to give a talk about EVs to the Dayton Rotary Club earlier this year, Gary very kindly enabled me to customize his work for that event. The presentation in June was well received and we subsequently realized that other EAA chapters around the country might like to modify the deck for their purposes.

And since I presented to the Rotarians, I have been asked to give a repeat performance at the Dayton Engineers Club. This slide deck seems to send the right message to the EV-curious at a time when there is great interest in EVs, renewable energy, and the need to reduce our carbon footprint in light of extreme weather around the world.
