10 New EVs Racing into the Market in 2024

Posted 02/22/2024

This year, a variety of new electric vehicles will make their debut on production lines and roads. Whether you’re in the market for high-performance vehicles, budget-friendly options for newcomers to the EV scene, or even a unique three-wheeled model, there’s something to suit everyone’s needs. Here are 10 of the EVs that our team is eagerly anticipating in 2024.

Audi Q6 e-tron

Starting price: N/A Range: Est. range 335 mi. (539 km.)   Audi’s newest electric SUV, the Audi Q6 e-tron, will introduce a cutting-edge EV platform known as the Premium Platform Electric, (PPE) which it shares with Porsche. Notably, Porsche is implementing this platform in their upcoming Macan EV (more on that below). The Q6 e-tron boasts an 800-volt architecture powered by a 93-kilowatt battery. An intriguing aspect of the battery is its use of prismatic lithium-ion cells, purportedly offering higher energy density. With a dual-motor setup, the Q6 e-tron is expected to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under six seconds, as stated by Audi.

Ford Explorer

Starting price: N/A Range: Est. range 335 mi. (539 km.)  Scheduled for a summer release, the electric Ford explorer will be manufactured in Germany and, regrettably for American readers, will only be accessible in Europe. It will be offered in both two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. Since the Explorer will utilize the Volkswagen MEB platform, it is expected to feature the same motor and battery options. This translates to either a 52 kWh or 77 kWh setup, offering a range of up to 335 miles (539 km.) and delivering between 201-335 brake horsepower (bhp).

Hyundai Ioniq 5 N

Starting price: $70,000 Range: N/A  Hyundai’s N versions of its lineup are tailored for drivers seeking enhanced performance beyond the company’s standard offerings, and the Ioniq 5 N is no exception. This model elevates the torque and horsepower compared to the regular version, reaching 478kW/650 PS when activating the playfully named “Grin Boost” button. Are you a fan of drifting? The Ioniq 5 N incorporates “drift technology” to assist in maintaining slide angles for enthusiasts. Completing the performance-oriented package are lower bucket seats, a lip spoiler on the front bumper, and a rear diffuser. While the Ioniq 5 N will hit the market in 2024, it’s technically labeled as a 2025 model.

Kia EV3

Starting price: $35,000 (est.) Range: N/A  The Kia EV3, a compact SUV, draws inspiration from its predecessor, the EV9. According to reports, it will incorporate sustainable materials into its interior design and feature rotating “mini tables” for added convenience. Additionally, the rear bench seat is designed to fold up to transport large items such as bicycles. Availability and range details for the EV3 are currently undisclosed.

Lotus Emeya

Starting price: N/A Range: Est. range 315 mi. (507 km.) Boasting true performance capabilities, the Emeya is reportedly equipped with 893 bhp, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just under three seconds. Rumors suggest that the Emeya’s 102 kW battery pack will enable rapid charging, reaching from 10% to 80% in a mere 18 minutes when utilizing a 350-kW charger. Lotus is proudly touting the Emeya’s ability to travel from Amsterdam to Paris on a single charge.

Nimbus One

Starting price: Under $10,000 Range: 93 mi. (150 km.)  Priced at under $10,000 the Nimbus One is an ideal choice for intercity community, offering impressive features despite its compact size. For instance, it boasts rapid acceleration, going from 0 to 30 mph in just under three seconds, and is equipped with front airbags, antilock brakes, and advanced driver assistance systems, all housed within a sturdy steel frame. What sets the Nimbus apart from conventional EVs is its innovative swappable 9 kWh battery, which can be conveniently charged in as little as 5.4 hours using a level one charger. With the ability to swap out batteries, there’s no need to wait for charging if you have multiple batteries on hand.     The Nimbus One is available in two variants: the standard Nimbus One, featuring a top speed of 50 mph (80 km/h), and the Nimbus One S, offering a higher top speed of 75 mph (121 km/h).

Polestar 4

Starting price: N/A Range: Dual motor: 350 mi (563 km.) Single long-range motor: 372 mi. (599 km.)  One of the most striking features of the Polestar 4 is its rear design, which eschews a traditional back window. Instead, it utilizes a high-definition screen in place of the rearview mirror, streaming real-time footage from a rear-facing camera mounted on the roof. This innovative setup offers a wider field of vision compared to a standard rear window, while also improving aerodynamics. The dual-motor model boasts a 102 kWh battery, providing an advertised range of 350 miles (563 km). Alternatively, the single-motor long-range option offers 272 bhp and a range of 372 miles (599 km). With bi-directional charging capability, the Polestar 4 allows for versatile charging options. Additionally, its vehicle-to-load capability enables the use of its battery to power small appliances, adding to its practicality and convenience.

Porsche Macan EV

Starting price: N/A Range: Est. range 310 mi. (499 km.)  Equipped with a dual-motor setup, the Porsche Macan EV boasts an impressive output of 603 bhp. Its 100 kWh battery offers an advertised range of 310 miles, (499 km) ensuring drivers have ample mileage for their journeys. Utilizing the 12.3-inch (32 cm) touchscreen, drivers can access intelligent routing and receive live updates on nearby public fast charging ports, enhancing convenience during travel. The Macan EV also introduces a new Porsche user interface designed to seamlessly integrate electric drive features, providing an intuitive and enhanced driving experience.

Range Rover Electric

Starting price: N/A Range: Est. range 400 mi. (644 km).  Land Rover is embracing electric mobility with its inaugural EV, the Range Rover Electric. Ensuring its flagship off-road vehicle maintains its renowned capability in electric form, Land Rover is reportedly conducting rigorous testing in extreme temperatures ranging from -40° F (-40° C) to 122° F (50° C). The electric Range Rover is anticipated to feature an 800-V architecture, delivering an impressive range of around 400 miles (644 km). In addition to the inherent quietness of electric vehicles, Range Rovers will be equipped with an active noise cancellation system, enhancing the driving experience for passengers.

Volvo EX30

Starting price: N/A Range: N/A  Volvos EX30 is designed to attract new budget-conscious customers with its lower price point. The EX30 lineup offers three trim models to choose from: a single-motor 51 kWh option, a single-motor 69 kWh variant, and a twin-motor 69 kWh model. The twin-motor version features all-wheel drive and delivers an impressive power output of 315 kW, equivalent to 428 hp. It boasts remarkable acceleration, capable of reaching 0 to 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds, making it Volvo’s fastest-accelerating vehicle to date, as claimed by the company.
