This month we are featuring one of the key members of our Product team, Siyi Zhang. She is focused on fleet charging, energy management and roaming integrations. We talked about Siyi’s path to EV Connect, her role as a product manager, technology innovation and more!

How did you hear about EV Connect? Why did you want to work here?

The top reason why many people are hesitant to adopt electric vehicles is the lack of access to electric vehicle charging infrastructure. I found EV Connect to be the perfect company to solve this hairy, deep-rooted industry challenge. Especially, with our diverse customer base, extensive network coverage, and forward-thinking company vision.

What is your favorite thing about working at EV Connect?

The freedom to explore. I am not fixed to my job title or description. I love how EV Connect encourages everyone to get out of your comfort zone and try new things to make our products and services better.

What’s the best thing you’ve learned about working at EV Connect?

EV Connect is highly customer centric. We always go the extra mile to deliver a seamless charging management experience for our site hosts and drivers. By putting the customers first, a lot of things will just follow.

Can you describe what your role is on the product team?

As a Product Manager, I am responsible for translating business opportunities and user needs into long-term product roadmaps and executable user stories and specs. My team serves as the liaison between engineering and our customers, ensuring we are building products with customers’ best interests in mind. Product management requires a lot of learning, collaboration, customer discovery, and thinking on my toes—it is super fun and dynamic!

What is EV Connect doing to further product and technology in the growing EV market?

EV Connect is tirelessly working on improving station reliability for drivers, reducing total cost of ownership for charging hosts, and building resilient, scalable digital infrastructure for network operators. We are delivering all our solutions while adhering to a truly open and interoperable framework. Before joining EV Connect, I never thought charging could be this difficult for someone who doesn’t own a Tesla. But I know my dedicated colleagues and I can help re-imagine the entire charging experience—making it simple, affordable, and ubiquitous for everyone to enjoy.
