Used Car of the Day: 2016 Ford Focus RS

The 2016 Ford Focus RS has been beloved around these parts for being fun to drive. Today we feature a low-mileage example out of the Pacific Northwest.

There are 21,700 miles on the car, which has the standard wheels and a moonroof. There are winter tires on it right now -- and the winter wheels are a bit scuffed. The seller has summer tires on another set of the same wheels, and those wheels aren't scuffed. However, the tires need to be replaced.

The car is still under warranty until this fall.

Our seller has kept it mostly stock, with upgrades including window tints, a European center console, and a USB upgrade that allows for Apple CarPlay capability.

The head gasket recall has been done. Cosmetically speaking, the car does have some rock chips and the like, and the lower front fascia was scuffed by the seller.

Otherwise the car appears to be in good condition. The ask is $38,000 and the car is in Portland, Oregon.

The first Focus RS, the one with the 5-cylinder that we never got in the U.S., might be worth the expense and hassle.

This one is just a Focus ST with a bored-out engine, a worse reliability record, and a lot of forum hype.

  If your aim is to steal my Crown of Stupidity then you are vying for it today. The Focus RS, at the least has AWD.

  There are a LOT of differences between the ST and the RS, chief among them being AWD and a ton more horsepower.

  Still a turbo four hot hatch that, despite AWD, everyone seems to agree can't turn as well as a Civic Type R.

Positives: Great condition, not modded, low miles.
Negatives: nose-candy price

These may be collectible, and if so this one's definitely a great example. Still, that price...

Tassos Tim is not that good with colors.The bright "pink" is not pink, but FUCHSIA. Both colors may look good on a woman's sweater, but not on steel panels.
Tassos While I was a very satisfied owner of a much earlier Accord COupe 5 speed (a 1990 I owned from 1994 to 2016), I don't like the exterior styling of this one so much, in fact the 2017 sedan looks better. Or maybe it sucks in white. The interior of my 1990 was very high quality, this one looks so-so. The 157 k miles were probably easy highway miles. Still, Hondas are not Toyotas, and I remember the same service (like timing belt replacement) back then cost TWICE for an Accord than for a Camry. Add to this that it has the accursed CVT, and it's a no. Not that I am in the market for a cheap econobox anyway.
3-On-The-Tree My 2009 C6 corvette in black looks great when it’s all washed and waxed but after driving down my 1.3 mile long dirt road it’s a dust magnet. I like white because dust doesn’t how up easily. Both my current 2021 Tundra and previous 2014 Ford F-150 3.5L Ecobomb are white
