We send you into the weekend with a weird one today. It's a 2004 Land Rover Discovery with a brand-new engine.

There are just 3,000 miles on the engine, which is a 4.6-liter. The trim is an SE and the transmission is an automatic.

Our seller isn't very verbose, but he or she does mention a snorkel and no rust.

The ask is $25,000 and this Land Rover is for sale in Raleigh. Check it out here.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

      @Daniel J

      70's - 90's era F250's in good shape, especially diesels, fetch obscene prices. Same for Dodge's.

    The Kult of Land Rover, folks...if you want to play, you're gonna pay. The good news, though, is that this isn't the Evoque, the dream used car of three-different-baby-daddies / Instagram-influcencer-wannabe ladies everywhere.

    I wanted a Discovery 30 years ago, but I bought a BMW instead because I lived near mountain roads and enjoy driving. I knew a guy who did buy one, and I recall thinking that it looked like a lot of fun with its five speed and 30-day tags. A few months later, he was looking for help sorting electrical issues and using great care when opening the rear door/tailgate because the cracked pot-metal hinges looked like they might drop it at any time.

    I don't know who was still buying these things in 2004. I knew someone who had a Range Rover around then. I'm guessing it had an alarm, because sometimes it would honk its own horn while flashing its lights and rolling down any windows that were functioning. 'Just wave,' he'd tell his passengers in response to startled onlookers.
