California Energy Commission adopts offshore wind goals: 5GW by 2030, 25 GW by 2045

The California Energy Commission (CEC) adopted a report establishing offshore wind goals and moving the state one step closer to development of the clean energy resource off California’s coast. Additional transmission infrastructure will be needed to deliver offshore wind energy from this region to the grid.

NPD study finds substantial mineral resources on Norwegian shelf

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has prepared a resource assessment of the seabed minerals on the Norwegian shelf. The report concludes that substantial resources are in place on the seabed. For several of the metals, the mineral resources are sufficient to cover many years of global consumption.

Nacero awards 20-year wind power purchase agreement to NextEra for natural gas-to-gasoline plant in Texas

Texas-based Nacero, a company seeking to produce low- and zero-lifecycle carbon footprint gasoline blendstock ( earlier post ) has awarded a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, LLC a 20-year power purchase agreement to supply wind power to Nacero’s planned flagship manufacturing facility in Penwell, Texas.
