Wärtsilä’s axial waterjets power the Francisco , the world’s fastest high speed ferry—and the first fast ferry to utilize liquefied natural gas (LNG) as fuel. Bogotá orders 379 electric buses from BYD

BYD will provide the Colombian capital of Bogotá with a fleet of 379 pure electric buses, in a deal awarded by the capital’s TransMilenio SA mass transport authority. Along with the 64 pure electric buses in Medellín, Colombia will have a total of 443 BYD electric buses, putting it at the vanguard of Latin America’s rapid push towards public transport electrification. It will also be 60% cheaper to operate these buses, compared to traditional diesel-powered buses.

BYD lands contract for 35 electric buses at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

These 35 BYD buses will enter service in July of 2014 and will replace an aging fleet of conventionally powered buses. Winning this contract was a vital step in our strategy to deliver emissions-free, public-transport vehicles. Eaton signs long-term agreement with Argentine bus manufacturer TATSA to design and supply hybrid systems

Eaton Corporation has signed a long-term agreement to design and supply Argentine bus manufacturer Tecnología Avanzada en Transporte S. TATSA), a company wholly owned by Consorcio Metropolitano de Transporte S.A., with a hybrid electric power system for use in buses in Argentina and throughout South America. The hybrid system combines a Cummins diesel engine with an electric motor that has a peak power output of 44 kW.
