Dow Kokam has signed two agreements to provide lithium-ion battery solutions to power electric medium-duty commercial vehicles with Motiv Power Systems and ZeroTruck, all designated for fleet operations. The vehicle is projected to operate for at least 8 years, and will begin its deployment in August.

based in Valencia (Los Angeles County), will administer the project, and ZeroTruck of Laguna Niguel (Orange County) will build up to 14 trucks for the project. ZeroTruck will provide match funding of $948,424. Electricore Inc., The Energy Commission is also awarding $1,074,000 in buy-down incentives for 46 alternative-fuel vehicles.

Tedd Abramson, from ZeroTruck, was there as was ace PIA volunteer, Colby Trudeau. Solar powered go-carts, milk floats, beer coolers… and best of all, an original 1912 Baker Electric powered by solar panels on its roof. With our director, Chris Paine, signed up as race marshall, we had a front row seat for the contest.
