Sales of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and battery-electric vehicles (BEV) continued to increase. With around 150,000 registrations, sales of BEVs increased by 50% compared to 2017. However, the combined share of PHEVs and BEVs in all car sales remains low (2% compared to 1.5% of sales in 2018.

Several factors affected this emission increase, including an increase in the average mass and only a limited increase of the share of electric vans (BEV sand PHEV) from 0.8% Sales of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and battery-electric vehicles (BEV) continued to increase to about 3.5%, compared with 2% in 2018.

Pre-sales of the SEAT Mii electric—touted by SEAT as one of the most affordable EVs offered—will start in September. SEAT Mii electric production will begin in Bratislava (Slovakia) in Q4 2019, with a market introduction starting from the very end of the year.
