Nissan Announces Micra Successor

It’s time to say goodbye to the iconic Nissan Micra. Sort of. The Micra as we know it is soon to be known no more. As part of their Alliance 2030 Roadmap, Nissan’s new electric vehicle will succeed the Micra as its entry-level offering.

Designed by Nissan, engineered and manufactured by Renault, the new car is based on the companies’ shared CMF EV platform. This partnership allows both Renault and Nissan to utilise the Common Module Family (CMF) to produce cars more efficiently and cheaply, whilst retaining each manufacturer’s unique styling portfolio.

There’s little to go on from their teaser photo, however the ringed headlight is definitely reminiscent of the third-generation Micra, ensuring it retains that ‘Nissan-ness‘.

“This all-new model will be designed by Nissan and engineered and manufactured by Renault using our new common platform, maximizing the use of our Alliance assets while maintaining its Nissan-ness”

Ashwani Gupta - Nissan COO

This new compact EV will add to the growing list of vehicles manufactured by Renault on behalf of Nissan. Currently, the French automaker is responsible for production of Nissan’s LCVs. The incredibly popular e-NV200 van is one of them.
