Soy-based polyurethane foams have been placed in the seat cushions and seatbacks of the Ford Mustang, Expedition, F-150, Focus, Escape, Escape Hybrid, Mercury Mariner, Lincoln Navigator, Lincoln MKS, and, most recently, 2010 Taurus. Soy-foam headliners were put in place for the 2010 Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner. General Motors.

Overall, Ford, Lincoln and Mercury sales for the month totaled 148,153, down 11% versus a year ago—the best performance of any of the major automakers. Just like, say, Ford—which was then in the process of killing Mercury, to leave it with only Ford and Lincoln. Thus, the restructured GM was composed of Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac, while the Hummer, Pontiac, Saab and Saturn brands died. That would give the radically slimmed-down GM a mass-market brand and a luxury brand.

Non-core brand sales declined when compared with June as Pontiac dipped 7%; Saturn was down 21%, and HUMMER and Saab declined 26%. Ford, Lincoln and Mercury retail sales increased 9% versus a year ago. Ford Escape sales totaled 20,241, a July record and up 94% versus a year ago, and Mercury Mariner sales were up 71%.
