With the popularity of the new energy vehicle consumption market, all localities have accelerated the layout of green travel and promoted the construction of supporting facilities such as charging piles and swap stations.

Recently, the Ministry of Transport, the National Energy Administration, the State Grid Corporation of China, and China Southern Power Grid Corporation jointly issued the Action Plan for Accelerating the Construction of Charging Infrastructure along the Highway, establishing three phased construction goals. Expressway service areas in areas other than high cold and high altitudes can provide basic charging services.

In recent years, my country’s electric vehicle industry has developed vigorously, and the scale of production and sales has continued to grow rapidly. According to statistics, as of June this year, the number of electric vehicles in my country has reached 10.01 million, of which 2.209 million were newly registered in the first half of the year, an increase of 1.106 million or 100.26% over the first half of last year, a record high.

Compared with the rapid development of new energy vehicles in my country, at present, the problems of insufficient charging infrastructure and insufficient coverage are still prominent.

In order to solve the problems of difficult and slow charging, various places have taken action, and the construction, operation and maintenance of charging stations has been further accelerated. This year, Beijing has promoted the task of comprehensive renovation of professional pipelines in old residential areas in an orderly manner, and plans to build 20,000 electric vehicle charging piles and 30 replacement stations. In the south, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Hainan and other 5 provinces and regions will achieve full coverage of charging facilities in tourist attractions above A-level, and will achieve full coverage of township charging piles next year.

In expressway service areas and some urban charging stations, innovations in charging technology have brought new energy vehicle owners a more convenient way to travel. In Zhejiang, State Grid Jinhua Power Supply Co., Ltd. aimed at the needs of charging scenarios in old residential areas, core business districts and other places, and launched new charging products such as ceiling-mounted, rail-type charging piles and intelligent charging robots, enriching charging methods, and striving to solve the problem of “old” charging. Charging congestion points in the “last 10 meters”, such as “difficulty in charging in old communities”, “occupancy by oil trucks”, “with piles but no vehicles, and vehicles without piles”.

With the increasing number of charging piles, many vehicle and power battery companies are also launching solutions for energy supply and supporting facilities. The small battery swap station developed by the power battery manufacturer CATL can not only quickly swap power for new energy vehicles, but also store 48 batteries. “I hope that through the latest research and development of battery replacement products, the battery will become a shared asset, and the three major pain points of electric vehicle users, including cruising range, convenience of power replenishment and purchase and use cost, will be resolved.” The relevant person in charge of Ningde Times said.

Industry insiders believe that with the rapid popularization of new energy vehicles, accelerating the construction of charging infrastructure is of great significance for stimulating effective investment and new energy vehicle consumption, and is conducive to driving the rise of the new energy vehicle industry and the upstream and downstream of the industry chain.
